Boluwaji Ogunyemi is chief dermatology resident physician at the University of British Columbia. He has backgrounds in epidemiology, sociology, medical education, and leadership. In addition to being a physician leader, Dr Ogunyemi is an award-winning writer in the areas of diversity and inclusion, medical humanities, and medical education.

Before residency training at UBC, Dr Ogunyemi completed medical school at Memorial University of Newfoundland where he served as President of the Medical Student Society after an undergraduate joint honors in sociology and medical science from Western University.

He regularly writes for the Huffington Post and has been published in the Vancouver Sun and several other print and electronic media outlets. His original articles about diversity and inclusion and medical humanities have been used in anti-racism workshops and his writing has been translated into French and Portuguese.

He sits on the Board of Directors for Resident Doctors of British Columbia and has recently served on the Board of the Directors of the Canadian Dermatology Association, Co-Chair of the CDA Resident and Fellows Society, and Executive Committee of the Canadian Professors of Dermatology. He has served as a Canadian Medical Association Ambassador and sits of the American Academy of Dermatology Clinical Guidelines Committee.

Dr Ogunyemi has received multiple awards each in the areas of leadership, academic achievement, clinical research, writing, and advocacy. His clinical experience has spanned from Lagos, Nigeria and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to Inuit communities in rural Labrador and Refugee Medicine in British Columbia.

Dr Ogunyemi has published in many mainstream media outlets and peer-reviewed scientific journals and serves as a reviewer for JCMS, and CMAJ. He is passionate about diversity and inclusion, global health, healthcare politics, skin of color dermatology, and clinical epidemiology. Dr Ogunyemi is interested and experienced social media use among healthcare professionals.
