Temporary Reduction in Member Annual Fee Policy

Policy Statement

As a benefit of membership, members may apply for a reduced membership fee while on maternity leave, parental leave, or for an extended illness.

Scope

Any member in good standing who temporarily stops practice due to the birth/adoption of a child, or illness may apply for a reduced membership fee.

Out of Scope

Elective part-time practice is not eligible.

Procedure
  • Members must make a written request for fee reduction, directly to the CDA (attention: Manager, Membership Services).
  • Requests will be reviewed to confirm the status of the member is in good standing.
  • If confirmed, the request is granted in professional good faith.  No documentation is required to substantiate the leave or illness.
  • The approved request will be effective for no longer than one-year.
  • The fee will be calculated, and the change conducted by the CDA National Office with confirmation provided by email to the requesting member.
  • For extended illness, members may re-apply for the reduced fee depending on personal circumstances.
