Inside Out: Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Androgen-Driven Acne Management
Inside Out follows the inner workings of three different types of patients with acne; a transgender man, a patient with polycystic ovarian syndrome, and a patient taking anabolic-androgenic steroids. Each patient is guided by three physicians – a dermatologist, psychiatrist, and endocrinologist. From the Headquarters, the control centre for patient care, the physicians will lead us through the intricacies of managing these complex patients, discussing the function of androgens in acne development, and the role of multidisciplinary care. The audience will see each specialist’s perspective on management, as well as how they collaborate to provide a holistic treatment plan.

Making Headway: Patient and Physician Views on Severe Alopecia Areata
Did you know that the leading cause of childhood hair loss is alopecia areata (AA)? AA is a complex disease to diagnose and manage as it is often associated with comorbid conditions and significantly impacts psychosocial wellbeing. Once diagnosed, patients and caregivers embark on a challenging journey to manage the unpredictable progression of the disease with limited treatments and use of supportive interventions. Adopting a conversational approach, this symposium aims to make headway on the evolution of AA management through the views of the patient, caregiver and physician, while addressing the emotional impact on adolescents. It intends to foster empathy, discuss novel treatments, and tools to enhance dermatologist training for AA diagnosis and clinical management.

The HS Times – Headliners: Accelerating Care, Optimizing Outcomes and Redefining Clinic Efficiency
Three hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) experts will examine the critical aspects of HS management that can be effectively optimized to improve patient outcomes. Journalists of a metaphorical journal, the HS Times, they will review clinical data and work with the audience to shape the evidence for an article slated for publication the following day. What strategies can be implemented to expedite diagnosis, early intervention and timely referrals? Which therapeutic approaches lead to better outcomes? How can clinic workflow be optimized by streamlining processes to reduce delays and enhance overall efficiency in managing HS patients in clinic? The symposium will engage the audience in addressing these questions through a mix of didactic presentations, discussion and interactive polling.
