Dr. Gabriele Weichert brings over 20 years of experience in medical and aesthetic dermatology to her role as President of the Canadian Dermatology Association (CDA) Board of Directors. She is currently the medical director at SkinCareWest, a medical and surgical Dermatology clinic in Nanaimo, BC. Dr. Weichert, originally from Ottawa, Ontario, began her academic journey with an undergraduate degree from the University of Waterloo. She completed her Dermatology residency at the University of British Columbia and holds an MD from McMaster University Medical School. Her academic achievements also include a PhD in Physiology from the University of British Columbia.
Throughout her career, Dr. Weichert has been dedicated to advancing patient care and supporting dermatology professionals. Her leadership spans from managing complex cases in community practice on Vancouver Island to overseeing large medical and aesthetic practices. She has been an active member of the CDA since 2005, contributing significantly through her roles on the Executive Committee, Governance and Nominations Committee, and Finance and Audit Committee. Her extensive involvement in these committees underscores her commitment to enhancing organizational governance, financial oversight, and strategic development.
As President of the CDA, Dr. Weichert is committed to enhancing the association’s role as a continually expanding central resource for member and patient education. She aims to strengthen support for dermatologists across Canada, ensuring they are able to deliver high-quality care and remain at the forefront of dermatological advancements. Dr. Weichert envisions the CDA as a pivotal platform that promotes excellence in dermatology through comprehensive education, robust practice support, and effective advocacy.
