Dr. Miranda Waugh is a fourth-year dermatology resident at the University of Ottawa, originally from Sudbury, Ontario. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Laurentian University and completed medical training at NOSM University, studying at both the Sudbury and Thunder Bay campuses.

Dr. Waugh’s interest in dermatology was cultivated under the mentorship of Dr. Lyne Giroux in Sudbury, whose comprehensive approach to the field significantly influenced her professional trajectory. Dr. Giroux’s ability to navigate the diverse challenges of dermatology inspired Dr. Waugh to pursue a similar path, marked by a commitment to excellence and adaptability in patient care.

In addition to clinical training, Dr. Waugh has a focused interest in medical education, preventative health, and the integration of the arts in medicine. She co-founded Stylives, an initiative supported by the Save Your Skin Foundation, which educates hairstylists on recognizing potential skin cancers in their clients. Dr. Waugh’s leadership experience includes active roles on the residency program committee, the residency selection committee, and serving as the CDA-RFS representative for the University of Ottawa during the 2023-2024 term.

My goal is to effectively represent the interests of resident members, ensuring that the educational resources and support provided by the CDA are both robust and accessible. The CDA has been a valuable resource throughout my residency, and I am committed to contributing to its mission of fostering professional development and excellence in dermatology.”

As Dr. Waugh steps into this role, she aims to uphold the standards of the CDA while advocating for the needs and perspectives of dermatology residents, focusing on delivering impactful contributions that align with the organization’s objectives.
