Dr. Sophia Colantonio is from Ottawa, Ontario. Her academic journey began with a summa cum laude degree in biology from the University of Ottawa, followed by a Master’s in public health from Yale University. She then earned her Doctorate of Medicine and completed her dermatology residency at the University of Ottawa.
Dr. Sophia Colantonio is a dual board-certified dermatologist in Canada and the United States. With a focus on medical dermatology, she currently practices at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus, where she leads specialized clinics in patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis, biologics for complex dermatological conditions, and pigmented lesions for high-risk melanoma patients. Dr. Colantonio founded Factor Dermatology in 2024, driven by her commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative, and accessible community dermatology care.
A recognized leader in her field, Dr. Colantonio has received multiple awards, including the University of Ottawa Division of Dermatology Clinician Teacher Award (2024), the Canadian Dermatology Association’s Early Career Volunteer Award (2023), and PARO’s Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award (2021).
She has been a member of the Canadian Dermatology Association (CDA) for 10 years, joining in 2014. Nationally, she is a dedicated advocate for dermatology, serving as the Regional Director for Ontario on the CDA’s Board of Directors. She also chairs the CDA’s Education Committee and contributes to several other key committees, including the Membership and Awards Committee and the Annual Conference Committee.
