The Research Award in Dermatology recognizes excellence in research intended to expand, direct, define or assist in the understanding and/or treatment of dermatologic disease, and must be of a quality suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
Submissions will be evaluated on the originality of ideas, clinical relevance or potential importance of the work, experimental methods and use of controls, evaluation of results and the clarity of presentation.
Eligibility
- Nominees must be current CDA members at the time of nomination.
- The award is open to fellows, dermatologists, and full-time residents enrolled in a Canadian Dermatology program.
- Eligible submissions can include unpublished research or research that has been accepted for publication, or published within the last calendar year (i.e. January 1 – December 31 of the year prior to the award year).
- The study must have been designed and carried out by (or under supervision of) the nominee.
- On multi-authored papers, only one author can be nominated for the award.
Nomination Process
Nominations
- Nominations can be submitted by peers, colleagues or trainees.
- Self-nomination is welcome.
- The winner from the previous year is not eligible. No author may receive more than three awards.
- The Membership and Awards Committee shall evaluate all nominations, taking into consideration the eligibility and focus of the award.
- Any nomination submissions received beyond the deadline date will not be considered.
Nomination Package
Nominations should be accompanied by:
- Copy of the submitted work.
- A current curriculum vitae of the nominee, up to a maximum of 20 pages.
The Award
- The CDA shall be under no obligation to make the award annually.
- The recipient will receive an opportunity to present their research at the CDA Annual Conference.
- The recipient will receive complimentary registration to the CDA Annual Conference.
- The award recipient will receive tickets for themselves and one (1) guest to attend the President’s Evening at the CDA Annual Conference.
