The Resident’s Writing Award recognizes dermatology residents and the importance of their participation in furthering the body of knowledge in the field of dermatology through written materials in the CDA publications, the Journal of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery (JCMS) and JCMS Case Reports.
Submissions will be evaluated on the quality of work, excellence in writing, originality, style, substantial science reporting (when applicable) and value to colleagues.
Eligibility
- Nominees must be full-time residents enrolled in a Canadian Dermatology program at the time of submission.
- Submitted material must have been published in the JCMS or JCMS Case Reports within the previous calendar year (i.e. January 1 – December 31 of the year prior to the award year).
- On multi-authored papers, only one author can be nominated for the award.
Nomination Process
Nominations
- Nominations can be submitted by peers, colleagues or trainees.
- Self-nomination is welcome.
- The winner from the previous year is not eligible. No author may receive more than three awards.
- The Membership and Awards Committee shall evaluate all nominations, taking into consideration the eligibility and focus of the award.
- Any nomination submissions received beyond the deadline date will not be considered.
Nomination Package
Nominations should be accompanied by:
- Brief description of the submitted work and how it meets the criteria, with a maximum of 250 words.
- Date of publication in JCMS or JCMS Case Reports.
- Copy of the submitted work.
The Award
- The CDA shall be under no obligation to make the award annually.
- The award will be presented at an awards ceremony during the CDA Annual Conference.
- The award recipient will receive tickets for themselves and one (1) guest to attend the President’s Evening at the CDA Annual Conference.
