The Canadian Dermatology Association (CDA) recognizes products exclusively through our official Product Recognition Program. All recognized products are listed here. Authentic recognition can be verified by the presence of our trademarked CDA logo on the physical products as well as an official recognition statement on print and online advertisements. The CDA recognized logo, and associated marks are registered trademarks of the CDA.
Our recognition indicates that products have met specific scientific standards established by our program as of the product’s evaluation date. Recognition does not constitute a general endorsement of all aspects or claims related to these products.
Unauthorized use of CDA trademarks or false claims of CDA recognition may constitute trademark infringement and false advertising. To report potential misuse or verify recognition status, please contact lookforthelogo@dermatology.ca.

About the Sun Protection Program
Guided by the Canadian Dermatology Association (CDA), the Sun Protection Program (SPP) recognizes sunscreen products that meet rigorous dermatological standards for sun protection and skin tolerability. It serves as your guide to effective sun protection, ensuring that the recognized products align with key standards, including:
- SPF sun protection 30 and above
- Broad-spectrum protection (protects against skin aging and sunburn)
- Gentle on skin to avoid skin irritation
- Minimally perfumed or non-perfumed formulations
- Do not clog pores
Launched in 1989, the Sun Protection Program (SPP) is guided by an independent panel of Certified Dermatologists and grounded in peer-reviewed scientific evidence and evolving clinical standards.
Recognized products must meet rigorous criteria related to sun protection performance, skin tolerability, and formulation characteristics, in addition to meeting Health Canada regulatory requirements. These criteria are determined by the expert dermatology panel and are formally reviewed and updated on a defined two-year cycle to ensure alignment with current evidence and best practices in dermatology.
When you see the Recognized Sun Protection logo on products, you can trust that it has met established standards for effective, skin-compatible sun protection.
