Early Career Volunteer Award
The Early Career Volunteer Award is given in recognition of those residents, fellows and early-career dermatologists (within first 10 years of practice) who have achieved significant contributions through medical/dermatological volunteer activities.
The volunteer only activities should demonstrate a meaningful commitment of time, energy, and resources, as well as meaningful benefit to others.
The volunteer services may include, but are not limited to, physician or public education, leadership, administrative responsibilities. Consideration will also be given to involvement with patient groups, medical history societies, political action groups, and religious or charitable activities provided they have a medical or dermatological aspect.
Eligibility
- Nominees must be current CDA members at the time of nomination.
- The award is open to residents, fellows and early-career dermatologists (within first 10 years of practice).
- The award open to living members, and will not be awarded posthumously.
Nomination Process
Nominations
- Nominations can be submitted by peers, colleagues or trainees.
- Letters from a minimum of two Certified Dermatologists must be included as part of the nomination package; these can include the letter of nomination and/or the letter(s) of support.
- Self-nomination is ineligible.
- Unsuccessful nominees may be resubmitted in a subsequent year.
- Recipients of the award are not eligible for future nomination for the same award.
- The Membership and Awards Committee shall evaluate all nominations, taking into consideration the eligibility and focus of the award.
- Any nomination submissions received beyond the deadline date will not be considered.
Nomination Package
Nominations should be accompanied by:
- A letter detailing the reasons for nomination.
- Up to two letters of support.
- A current curriculum vitae of the nominee, up to a maximum of 20 pages.
- Reference letters should be clear, succinct, intentional and no more than two pages in length.
- Any additional letters/collateral submitted in excess of the list included above will be removed from the submission prior to evaluation.
The Award
- The CDA shall be under no obligation to make the award annually.
- The award will be presented at an awards ceremony during the CDA Annual Conference.
- The award recipient will receive tickets for themselves and one (1) guest to attend the President’s Evening at the CDA Annual Conference.
Nominations will be accepted until March 2, 2025.
