Thank you for your interest in the Canadian Dermatology Association’s Shade Structure Grant Program. The program provides funding to schools, daycares, city parks and not-for-profit organizations to purchase or construct permanent shade structures in order to create a safe outdoor environment that protects people from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiation.

Five grant recipients may receive up to $7,500 each to go toward the cost of materials and installation. The CDA will also provide a permanent sign that provides sun-safe tips to be installed near or on the shade structure.

The grant may not cover your complete project, so you must make sure you will have the additional funding you need to install the structure by the deadline.

All grant applicants will be notified via email in September 2024. The structure must be installed by April 1, 2025, otherwise recipient will forfeit the grant.

To apply for a shade structure grant, complete this online application for your organization. All submissions must be made online; paper submissions will not be reviewed. The deadline for submissions is Friday, June 28, 2024, 11:59 p.m. (ET).

The CDA is no longer accepting applications. All applicants to the CDA Shade Structure Grant Program will be notified of the status of their submission in September 2024. Recipients of the shade structure grant will be provided CDA signage that must be installed, along with the structure, by April 1, 2025, in order to receive the grant. Thank you for your interest in the program.
