Take Charge of Your Skin Health

Your skin tells a story, and checking it regularly is one of the simplest, most effective ways to detect signs of skin cancer early, when it’s most treatable. Practicing sun safety and self-exams are vital, especially during the summer months when UV exposure is highest.

Check Your Skin Day®

Created by the Canadian Dermatology Association in 2022 as part of its Sun Awareness Month campaign, Check Your Skin Day® serves as an annual reminder for Canadians to make skin self-examinations a regular part of their health routine. Observed on the first Sunday of May, this national awareness initiative encourages people to take a few minutes to check their skin for unusual moles, spots, or changes that could be early signs of skin cancer.

Now in its fourth year, Check Your Skin Day continues to emphasize that early detection can save lives, and it starts with you.
