Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award

The Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award recognizes Canadian dermatology faculty members who have made outstanding contributions to resident teaching and have inspired and mentored residents in their programs. Nominations are put forth by program chief residents after consensus is met with their co-residents.

Nomination Guidelines

  • The award is open to any faculty member involved in full or part-time clinical teaching of dermatology residents in Canada.
  • Nominees must be members of the Canadian Dermatology Association.
  • Nomination submissions must be provided by program chief resident(s) only, after soliciting nominees from their program co-residents. A closed-ballot election should be held within the program in the event that more than two potential nominees are put forth.
  • Up to two clinical teaching faculty members may be nominated from each dermatology program.
  • Previous nominees who have not received the award can be nominated again.
  • The faculty member need not be aware of their nomination.
  • Up to two (2) awards will be given.  The CDA-RFS is under no obligation to provide the award annually.
  • Nominations will be evaluated by CDA-RFS Committee.
  • The award shall be presented annually at the CDA Annual Conference.
  • Nomination submissions must be received by the deadline date.  Any submissions received beyond that date will not be considered.

The nomination shall be accompanied by:

  • Letter of nomination that describes the reasons for the nomination, including detailed information with specific examples that convey the excellence and efforts of the nominee in clinical teaching and mentorship.  It may be written by any one or several of the residents within the program and should reflect the collective opinion of the residents in the program.

Nominations will be accepted until April 1, 2024.
